Bank Respiratory Nurse Specialist

To contribute to the provision of Respiratory Services in Luton to meet the needs of people with respiratory conditions, including COPD, Asthma, ILD, and Bronchiectasis who require community services.
Able to demonstrate an understanding of the needs of the patient group and will have experience supporting this client group in either a hospital or community setting. You will be able to deliver high-quality care and demonstrate clinical decision-making, working independently and as part of the wider multidisciplinary team. The Community Respiratory Service is committed to the continuing professional development of its staff to support patient outcomes and a high level of patient satisfaction.
As a Bank worker, you can work flexibly full or part-time to fill a temporary vacancy or short-term staffing shortages; however, hours and placements cannot be guaranteed.

Main duties of the job
* Support the vision, purpose, and objectives of the Community Respiratory Services.
* Manage patients in your care, ensuring a high standard of evidence-based clinical care.
* Keep all electronic patient records up to date in line with the Trust's record-keeping policy.
* Work within CCS policy and service-specific Standard Operating Procedures.
* Partner with patients, encouraging appropriate use of resources, including social care agencies and voluntary sector, and promote respiratory health considering the diversity of the population.
* Collaborate with colleagues in the Acute Trust and Primary Care to identify patients needing multidisciplinary support to prevent hospital admissions.
* Follow current clinical guidelines and evidence-based practices to develop a gold standard service.

Job responsibilities
* Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, carers, and external agencies including acute sector, primary care, and voluntary services.
* Communicate sensitive condition-related information with empathy and reassurance.
* Participate in relevant meetings and conduct teaching sessions for staff and patient groups.
* Ensure compliance with governance systems across the service.
* Maintain mandatory training, annual PDP, and ongoing professional development.
* Maintain confidentiality in line with the Data Protection Act.
* Adhere to Trust risk assessment, risk management, and infection control policies.
* Ensure personal and team performance standards are met, including clinical competencies.
* Participate in clinical and other audits as required.
* Provide patients and families with information on service standards and capture user experience.
* Support implementation of pathways and protocols for respiratory care.
* Maintain professional registration with the NMC and keep it current.

Qualifications
* Registered Nurse
* Post-registration Respiratory course
* Recognized degree in nursing
Experience
* Partnership and multidisciplinary working
* Caseload management
* Postgraduate experience caring for respiratory patients
* Experience in Pulmonary Rehabilitation setting
Knowledge and Skills
* Excellent communication skills
* Proficient in IT (Word, Outlook)
* Ability to work independently
* Teamwork and flexibility
* Knowing when to seek advice
