Learning Support Worker - Specialist Provision
North Bristol
Long-Term & Flexible Supply Opportunities! Are you passionate about making a genuine difference in the lives of young people who need it most? We are currently recruiting dedicated and resilient Learning Support Workers to work within a specialist setting supporting both primary and secondary-aged pupils.

This is a rewarding opportunity to be part of a nurturing and highly supportive environment where every child is understood as an individual, and every small step forward is celebrated.

About the Setting
This specialist provision is built around a trauma-informed, child-centred ethos, placing strong emphasis on relationships, consistency and emotional wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create a safe, structured and predictable environment where pupils feel secure enough to engage in learning.

The approach focuses on:

1. Building trust and positive relationships
2. Understanding behaviour as communication
3. Supporting emotional regulation and social development
4. Delivering a personalised and flexible curriculum

The Pupils
You will be supporting children and young people across primary and secondary age ranges, all of whom have a range of additional needs and often complex backgrounds.

Pupils may:

5. Have SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs
6. Have diagnoses such as ASC (Autism Spectrum Condition) and/or ADHD
7. Display behaviours that can be challenging, including dysregulation, verbal outbursts, or disengagement
8. Have experienced trauma, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), or disrupted education
9. Be working below age-related expectations academically

Strong, consistent support and a calm, empathetic approach are key to helping these pupils succeed.

The Role
As a Learning Support Worker, you will:

10. Provide 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
11. Help pupils access learning both inside and outside the classroom
12. Support behaviour through de-escalation and positive strategies
13. Build meaningful relationships that promote trust and engagement
14. Work closely with teaching staff and wider professionals

What We're Looking For
Working with children and young people can be both challenging and rewarding!
A good sense of humour and open mindset are really valuable. You will also need:

15. Experience working with children or young people with additional needs (education, youth/social work, or similar)
16. A calm, patient, and resilient approach
17. A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
18. Strong communication and teamwork skills
19. A willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment

Opportunities Available

20. Full-time, long-term roles for those seeking consistency and career progression
21. Flexible supply work to suit those looking for varied experience or work-life balance
22. Potential for roles to become permanent for the right candidates
