The Role
Join Western Child Abuse Team (CAT) as a Detective Constable. Make a Real Difference in Child Protection.
Are you a dedicated Detective Constable with a passion for safeguarding vulnerable children? Western CAT is expanding, and we’re looking for skilled professionals to join our specialist team tackling child abuse and harmful traditional practices.
As a Detective Constable in our Child Abuse Team, you’ll lead sensitive and complex investigations, working closely with partner agencies to protect children and bring offenders to justice. You’ll be at the forefront of safeguarding, using your expertise to support victims and ensure the highest standards of care and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead live investigations and prepare RASSO files for CPS.
 * Conduct joint visits with social services and multi-agency partners.
 * Interview vulnerable children and adults with care and professionalism.
 * Ensure compliance with legislation and best practice in child protection.
 * Provide outstanding support to victims, witnesses, and suspects.
Skills & Experience
We’re seeking individuals who are:
 * PIP2 accredited and experienced in managing serious investigations.
 * SCAIDP trained (or on the pathway) with a completed portfolio.
 * Skilled in interviewing children, victims, and suspects using the PEACE model.
 * Dynamic, motivated investigators able to manage demanding workloads and court cases with precision and empathy.
 * Knowledgeable in Achieving Best Evidence (ABE) and The Victims Code.
 * Committed to continuous professional development and safeguarding excellence.
 * Knowledge of Operation Soteria and its key principles would be beneficial.
