Senior Communications and Policy Manager – Interim opportunity
Location: Solihull – 2 days office/3 days home
Salary: Up to £70,000 (can be day rate equivalent or as FTC)
This is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced communications specialist to make a real impact within an organization at the forefront of skills for a greener world.
Our client is the voice of the sector, working with members, government, and regulators to address skills challenges within the utilities sector. They provide membership, assurance, and skills solutions to help employers attract, develop, and maintain a skilled workforce.
As the Senior Communications and Policy Manager, you will work at the group level, reporting to the CEO and liaising with sales, membership, marketing, and other senior stakeholders to create and deliver a robust communications plan for the upcoming five-year strategy launching in October. You should be comfortable working with high-level stakeholders, including government leaders.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Developing and implementing external and internal communications plans.
* Creating a strategic communications plan, including thought leadership, white papers, speaking opportunities, and media coverage.
* Executing the communications plan across various channels such as web, video, social media, PR, and events.
* Managing policy document production, consultation responses, and inquiries.
* Preparing communications materials for political conferences and networking events.
* Developing and managing the company's positioning and responses to sector policy at different government levels, ensuring message consistency.
Background and experience required:
* Experience in a senior communications and policy role.
* Background in public sector, utilities, training providers, or similar; experience with awarding organizations is a plus.
* Experience in external communications, external affairs, and policy.
* Ability to present and speak at high-profile events, including government briefings.
* Influential relationship builder and strategic thinker.
* Availability to work from Solihull office two days a week with flexibility for travel.
This role is initially interim for approximately six months, with potential for permanent placement for the right candidate, either as a fixed-term contract or a freelance day rate. There is an opportunity for the role to transition to a permanent position on a temp-to-perm basis.
