Finance Assistant

The Opportunity
An established and growing organisation based in the Great Yarmouth area is looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to join their busy finance team.
This position will play an important role in supporting the day-to-day financial operations of the business. The successful candidate will assist with transactional accounting, payroll administration, reconciliations, and general finance support while working closely with the Finance Manager and wider team.
This role would suit someone with previous accounts experience who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in maintaining accurate financial records.
Key Responsibilities
* Maintain accurate financial records through regular bank and petty cash reconciliations
* Post daily bank transactions and assist with monthly reconciliation processes
* Process supplier invoices and ensure all documentation is recorded and stored correctly within the accounting system
* Generate and issue customer invoices in a timely manner
* Prepare supplier payment runs and maintain up-to-date supplier account records
* Respond to supplier queries and resolve discrepancies relating to invoices or payments
* Assist with credit control activities, including sending customer statements and following up on overdue balances
* Monitor available funds within the company's factoring facility and upload sales invoices where required
* Share daily financial information such as bank balances and exchange rate updates with relevant internal stakeholders
* Support the month-end process, including assisting with balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting preparation
* Assist with financial reviews, audits, and requests for financial information
* Provide support with year-end processes and ensure financial records are complete and compliant
* Assist with the weekly payroll process
* Contribute to the ongoing improvement of financial procedures and internal controls
Skills and Experience
* Previous experience in a Finance Assistant, Accounts Assistant, or similar finance role
* Strong attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
* Experience with invoice processing, reconciliations, and transactional finance tasks
* Some exposure to payroll processes would be beneficial
* Experience using accounting software such as Sage 50 or similar systems
* Confident using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
* Ability to prioritise tasks and manage deadlines effectively
