Electrical Engineer
Westhill, Aberdeen or Inchinnan, Glasgow (Permanent position)
About the Role
Provide engineering design solutions and through life engineering support to the JFD product range.
Workload can vary from designing new products to meet client or internal specifications to supporting an existing client’s request to upgrade or change equipment in the field.
Principal Accountabilities
* Provide engineering design input to new products and support the existing product range by assessing technical queries and providing engineering solutions.
* Liaise with internal JFD departments such as sales, procurement, and production to ensure the best technical solution is provided in all instances.
* Sourcing suitable components and materials when required, and creating part numbers and bill of materials.
* Creation of engineering documentation such as specifications, proposals, assembly instructions, test procedures, certification and reports.
* Checking detailed electrical drawings and documentation for adherence to engineering and company standards and processes, and compliance with internal and external standards & regulations.
* Ensuring engineering solutions are provided on time and on budget.
* Site visits to other JFD offices and client assets as and when required.
* Act as a technical checker of drawings and documentation generated in support of the electrical engineer role.

Qualifications And Experience
* Proven electrical and electronics design skills.
* Skilled in generating design calculations.
* Competent in the use of engineering design software tools/CAD packages.
* Knowledge of design standards.
* Previous product design experience (particularly DC systems) would be advantageous.
* Experience from a graduate engineer position is desirable.
* Experience with product lifecycle management systems for generating and storing engineering packages.
* Electrical and electronics engineering degree or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience working to marine, defence standards and class society rules (mainly LR and DNV).
* Must be able to pass security clearance for this role and have the right to work and reside in the UK.
