Scientist I (Imaging Assay Development)
You are an imaging scientist with hands-on experience in immunofluorescence or FISH. You enjoy working at the bench, solving technical challenges, and building assays that actually translate into clinical impact.
We are partnered with a Guildford-based diagnostics organisation developing advanced liquid biopsy technologies to detect and characterise rare cancer cells. This is a company at the intersection of biology, engineering, and clinical application, combining imaging and molecular approaches to unlock new insights into disease.
As Scientist I – Imaging Assay Development, you will play a key role in designing, optimising, and validating immunofluorescence and FISH-based assays. This is a hands-on, technically rich role where you will work across the full assay lifecycle in a regulated setting, collaborating closely with molecular scientists and bioinformaticians.
Key responsibilities:
* Design, optimise, and validate IF and FISH imaging assays
* Develop multiplex staining protocols and signal amplification strategies
* Operate and maintain fluorescence microscopy and imaging platforms
About you:
* MSc or PhD in Biomedical Sciences or related field
* 1–2 years’ experience in imaging assay development
* Strong hands-on expertise in immunofluorescence and/or FISH
Location: Guildford
Level: Scientist I
