About the School

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy (DACA) has a capacity of 1200 in the lower school and also has a developing sixth form provision. The sixth form has enjoyed strong progress in both academic and applied courses and has destination data that shows NEETs significantly lower than the national picture.


About the Role

Attendance Officer (Fixed Term Contract for Maternity Cover). Join our team at DACA and play a vital role in promoting excellent attendance and a positive learning environment across the academy. In this key role, you will work closely with the Assistant Principal to uphold high standards, ensuring all students are supported to attend regularly and achieve their full potential. You will help create a safe, welcoming, and cooperative atmosphere, while providing essential administrative support to the Attendance Service.


What We’re Looking For

* Strong organisational and communication skills
* A proactive and professional approach
* The ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents
* Experience in administration (education setting desirable but not essential)


Desired Criteria

* NVQ Level 2 in Business Administration or willingness to undertake it
* Experience giving verbal evidence in court
* Experience in an education welfare role


Essential Criteria

* Educated to at least GCSE standard including Maths and English Grade C/5 or above
* Basic First Aid or willingness to undertake it
* Working in a school environment
* Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office packages (Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, PowerPoint)
* Familiar with school CPOMS and BROMCOM
* Working as part of an Admissions Team
* Experience working with students and their families to raise attendance

* Ability to communicate verbally and write reports for a range of stakeholders, including Governors and external agencies

* Excellent communication skills: accurate, concise, warm, coherent and clear (both written and oral)
* Strong organisational skills and time management, able to adjust and flex and mindful of highest priorities at any point in time
