Enriching lives, together Main Purpose and Scope of the Role The Assistant Accountant supports the accounting department in various financial tasks, including maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and assisting with budgeting and auditing processes. This role requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with the finance team and other departments. Duties and Key Responsibilities Financial Record Maintenance Assist in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial records. Record financial transactions in accounting software. Ensure proper documentation and filing of financial documents. Accounts Receivable Cash posting, sales order approvals, issuing weekly overdue report, chasing overdue Maintain and review credit limits and approvals for Europe Customer Queries and database maintenance Bank Reconciliation Perform bank reconciliations on a weekly basis. Investigate and resolve any discrepancies between bank statements and accounting records. General Ledger Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting journal entries. Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy. Financial Accounting Month end support including monthly accruals, prepayments, intercompany recharges/reconciliations Responsibility for the maintenance of the Fixed Asset register Weekly cash flow forecasts. Budgeting and Forecasting Support the budgeting and forecasting processes by providing necessary financial data. Auditing Support Assist in preparing for internal and external audits. Provide necessary documentation and information to auditors. Indirect Tax Compliance Responsiblity for the prepariton and submission of various VAT returns including Intrastat and EC sales list, for UK, Ireland and Netherlands Ensure compliance with relevant VAT regulations and laws. Administrative Support Provide general administrative support to the accounting department. Respond to accounting inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities for process improvements in the accounting function. Participate in special projects and initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Compliance and Internal Controls Ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies and relevant regulations. Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills and Experience Part Qualified ACCA/CIMA. Qualified AAT Minimum of 3 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment. Proficiency in ERP systems (e.g. D365, SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
