Your new role
We are working with a friendly and supportive secondary school in the Darwen area, seeking an Art Technician to join their vibrant Design & Technology faculty. This role involves working closely with teaching staff to prepare materials, maintain equipment, and supporting practical art lessons. You’ll play a vital role in ensuring lessons run smoothly and safely, helping students explore their creativity through a wide range of artistic processes.
This is a permanent role starting in September on a term time only + 1 week basis.
As Art Technician, you’ll play a key role in supporting teaching and learning by:
1. Preparing materials and equipment for practical art lessons
2. Maintaining and monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies as needed
3. Providing technical support during lessons, including demonstrations of equipment and processes
4. Supporting the safe use of specialist tools and machinery, including kilns, glazing, and printmaking equipment
5. Carrying out regular health and safety checks and ensuringpliance with CLEAPSS, COSHH, and school policies
6. Assisting with displays, cover work, and the preparation of teaching resources
7. Ensuring classrooms and equipment are clean, safe, and well-organised
What you'll need to succeed
8. Experience working in a school environment (preferred)
9. Knowledge of CLEAPSS, COSHH, and Health & Safety guidelines
10. Confidence in using and maintaining specialist art equipment
11. A proactive, organised, and flexible approach to supporting practical lessons
12. A genuine interest in supporting students’ learning and development
13. Amitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
