Reporting to a Buying Director and leading a team of Buying Assistants, the successful candidate will help to drive sales, profitability and innovation in the Fresh Meat Buying team through effective leadership, analytical skills, and passion for product.
Your New Role
* People management: manage and foster the development of Buying Assistants
* Supplier Management: manage the day-to-day supply partner relationships
* Product Development: Have a detailed understanding of the product range both internally & externally
* Quality: Ensure our quality standards are met consistently in line with our agreed Quality Attribute Standards
* Produce timely and accurate business forecasts, including financial forecasts to enable targets to be met
* Presenting: prepare and deliver presentations utilizing data from multiple sources concisely
* Decision Making: be capable of making quick decisions based on complex information
* Negotiation: plan, prepare and carry out negotiations to secure exciting products at the best price
* Range management: aid the Buying Director on existing and future ranges through utilizing several data sources
* AMS: utilizing the knowledge and initiative of employees following the principles of the Aldi Management System
About You
* Effective leadership, motivation and people management
* Influential and natural leader in an environment with large supplier partners
* A self-starter with the ability to prioritise multiple tasks at once
* Strong attention to detail
* High level of personal organisation
* Proficiency in Microsoft excel and PowerPoint
* Strong communication skills with ability to take complex information and deliver in simplified manner cross many levels of the business
* Being comfortable having challenging conversations with supplier partners
* A strong sense of urgency and ability to operate under pressure
* Intellectually curious and takes initiative
* Self-starter must be productive with minimal direction in a fast-paced environment due to short shelf life
* Ability to work with cross functional departments to ensure food safety as a priority
* Excellent visual design sense in relation to product development
* Strong problem-solving capability
* Exceptional organisation and time management skills
* Buying experience
* An understanding and awareness of an agricultural supply chain for example – Beef, Poultry, Lamb or Pork
What you’ll get in return
* Salary starting at £61,985 rising to £95,655
* Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 5pm, with the opportunity of remote working up to 2 days per week
