Our client manufactures a comprehensive range of aluminium foil wrinklewall and smoothwall containers used throughout the food industry. As a global leader, they supply lightweight, robust aluminium foil packaging for retail brands and foil containers for wholesale and distributor markets worldwide.
The Role
The Purchasing Manager will oversee procurement and purchasing of all goods, materials, and services, ensuring operational needs are met in line with sustainable procurement guidelines, balancing price, quality, and delivery to maintain supply continuity.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
* Manage procurement of all production and non-production materials and services.
* Handle metal demand and purchase contracts, managing relationships with group and non-group suppliers.
* Maintain stock levels according to company objectives and report on inventory status.
* Manage metal scrap contracts and demand analysis, including purchase order generation and expedition.
* Maintain supplier relationships, ensuring clear communication and supply chain efficiency.
* Assess and manage supply in line with sustainable procurement guidelines.
* Negotiate and approve supplier contracts, maintaining documentation and assessing renewal needs.
* Lead tender processes, gather data, collate quotations, and organize sample trials.
* Manage supplier database and qualification via the I2R Supplier Portal (Ariba).
* Develop and implement supplier performance evaluation processes.
* Create, review, and maintain purchasing processes and procedures.
* Manage purchasing databases, contracts, pricing, and orders, providing reports to stakeholders.
* Identify demand outlets for slow-moving materials.
* Support SAP purchasing implementation and drive cost savings through benchmarking.
* Manage and support direct reports, ensuring effective training and development.
About You
Essential Experience
* Extensive experience in Purchasing, Procurement, and Supply Chain within manufacturing.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Desired Experience
* Experience in fast-paced manufacturing or FMCG environments.
* Familiarity with Supplier Portals, SAP, and System Migration.
* CIPS qualification or working towards it.
