We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dynamic practitioners to join our friendly multi-disciplinary theatre teams.
The shifts pattern is three long days a week, from Monday to Sunday, or three-night shifts per week. There will be a mixture of nights and days on a four-week template. We have rotational opportunities for staff to develop and/or maintain their skills.
Main duties and responsibilities
* Be responsible as one of the Band 5 anaesthetic practitioners in the theatre setting.
* Essential for the applicant to have either an Operating Department Practitioner qualification or a post-registered qualification in Anaesthetics.
* Practice anaesthetics in multiple surgical specialities including Obstetrics, Paediatrics, ENT, Urology, Trauma and Orthopaedics, Gynaecology, Urology, Oral and maxillofacial, Colorectal, and Robotics.
* Cover outlying areas such as the cardiac catheter lab and rotate on the emergency bleep for cardiac arrests, trauma calls and airway interventions.
* Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, adapt to change, remain calm under pressure and be a good team player.
* Support the theatre staff and maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
* Adhere to Trust policies for ordering, storage and use of all drugs; follow clinical practices and participate in Risk Management and Clinical Governance.
* Ensure staff are aware of Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH and Infection control policies; report accidents and incidents with documentation as required.

* Checking and administering blood products and fluids.
* Assist the anaesthetist in the clinical area.
* Support the team and be an effective team player.
* Maintain patient confidentiality and dignity.
* Ensure Trust policies for correct ordering, storage and use of drugs are adhered to.
* Ensure Trust policies for correct clinical practices are followed.
* Be aware of Risk Management and Clinical Governance implications on practice.
* Ensure theatre staff and multidisciplinary teams are aware of Fire, Health & Safety, COSHH and Infection control policies; report incidents promptly.
Person Specification
Essential
* First level registration with the NMC and recognised anaesthetic qualification.
* ODP registration.
* Evidence of professional development.

* Degree.
Experience
* Theatre experience as part of training or rotation on a programme.
* Commitment to clinical effectiveness and evidence-based care.
