As our Principal Ecologist, you will lead and provide expert support, training, and guidance to develop COOMBES ecological management strategies, plans, and budget costs alongside our Environmental Manager.
Responsibilities include:
1. Establishing and managing ecological resources within the company.
2. Advising on environmental legislation, keeping key stakeholders informed of any changes, and updating company policies and procedures as required.
3. Leading ecological surveys and logistics planning across our sites.
4. Providing training and support for protected species surveys, ecological data collation, analysis, monitoring, and reporting.
5. Maintaining and developing the Environmental Management System, including internal updates and supporting external audits.
6. Mentoring and supporting the professional development of junior team members.
Qualifications and Skills:
* Experience managing ecological projects from conception to completion, including Phase 2 surveys.
* Detailed knowledge of UK legislation and policy.
* PTS certification.
* Class 2 Survey licence(s) for protected species.
* Experience working within rail or infrastructure projects is advantageous but not essential.
