Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner
Position held on the West Team at Cornwall and Isles of Scilly NHS Talking Therapies. The role involves working part of the week from an office in Central Cornwall to provide a face‑to‑face clinic, with the remainder of the week completed remotely.
Job Summary
As a Senior Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (SPWP) you will support the Service Lead, Professional Lead & Team Managers to develop Step 2 service provision across the organisation. The post offers an opportunity to develop a career and share expertise with others.
Responsibilities
* Maintain a Step 2 PWP caseload.
* Provide clinical support and guidance on clinical suitability and patient risk.
* Supervise and case‑manage both qualified and trainee PWPs.
* Deliver clinical skills training.
* Conduct referral assessment, identify and ensure appropriate and current intensity for patients.
* Clinically support and mentor less experienced PWPs.
* Lead low‑intensity service developments and deliver in‑house training workshops.
* Develop, support and train innovative practice for trainee PWPs and other workers qualified to act in low‑intensity roles.
* Integrate care with physical health services for clients with long‑term conditions.
Person Specification
Essential
* Psychology degree or equivalent.
* Qualification or substantial experience in professional clinical supervision.
* Demonstrated experience delivering evidence‑based talking therapies (low‑intensity interventions such as computerised CBT, guided self‑help and group psycho‑education).
* Post‑qualifying accreditation – Talking Therapies postgraduate Certificate in Low Intensity CBT.
* Leadership/management skills or prerequisites / interest in developing these.
* Experience supervising, guiding or mentoring others within a therapeutic setting.
* UK professional registration.
Desirable
* Experience working with people who have experienced mental health and physical health problems.
* Qualified in Talking Therapies Long Term Conditions (LTC) – low‑intensity.
