Job Purpose
As the Category Sourcing Manager for South-East South-Asia, for Solvents & Cross-Category, the role encompasses the following responsibilities:
Leadership & Strategic Direction: Provide strategic direction and leadership to category sourcing in SESA.
Strategy Deployment: Define and deploy strategy for managing regional spend of the category, driving year-on-year value and benefits.
Stakeholder Collaboration: Work with key internal stakeholders including cross-business units, R&D, and other category leads
Supplier Management: Own and drive strategic supplier management with all the regional vendors and own select/agreed global vendors
Alignment with Corporate Goals: Steer category strategy and execution aligned with AkzoNobel’s corporate goals on sustainability.
Key Accountabilities
1. Develop and deploy regional sourcing strategy for the category
2. Lead and manage strategic supplier management regionally and globally
3. Influence internal stakeholders and business teams strategically on a global and regional scale
4. Exhibit leadership behaviors to both the category team and suppliers
5. Lead and deliver regional and global projects specific to the category
6. Implement strategic cost management through e-tenders, negotiation, and contract management
7. Ensure year-on-year value creation is in line with company and functional goals
8. Collaborate with the Category Technical Lead to develop a technical roadmap, including critical projects and initiatives
9. Build and sustain a vendor base encompassing current and prospective vendors
10. Contribute proactively to AkzoNobel’s Science-Based Target initiative (SBTi)
11. Develop alternate raw materials with the Business Unit Technical Lead, mitigating single/sole source material at elevated risk
12. Drive end-to-end simplification of product portfolio and supplier reduction
13. Demonstrate important levels of global collaboration and cooperation
Experience
14. More than 10 years in strategic sourcing with global exposure and complex spend; GBS experience is a plus
15. Skilled in strategic sourcing, category management, advanced negotiation, and contract management
16. Highly numerate, structured, and proficient in SAP, BI, and complex data analysis
17. Strong communicator across all management levels and global functions
18. Proven ability in stakeholder management, team leadership, and change management
19. Experienced in leading strategic initiatives with minimal supervision
20. Hands-on international business experience; adaptable and resilient under pressure
21. Able to connect big-picture strategy with execution and results
22. Action-oriented, continuously improving, with a creative and opportunity-focused mindset
Education
23. Degree in Science, Business, or Economics; MBA or Master’s in Supply Chain is preferred
