The Head of Finance role encompasses all aspects of financial and management accounting within the organisation.
Duties and responsibilities
1. Monthly production and distribution of management accounts
2. Monthly production of balance sheet control account reconciliations.
3. To review coding in the nominal ledger and perform journal entries as required
4. Production of monthly department budget reports
5. Guide the department away from paper-based records towards electronic record keeping
6. Manage the quarterly VAT returns and processing of the VAT annual adjustment.
7. Liaise with HMRC and external professional advisers to ensure accurate VAT processing and reporting.
8. Maintain the register of assets for CGS calculations
9. Set up and manage monthly direct debit payments
10. Supervisory responsibility for three Finance assistants, including their annual appraisals
11. To oversee the purchase ledger function
12. Oversee the purchasing of consumables for payments via the company credit card.
13. Monthly reconciliation of credit card account to authorised receipts
14. Oversee the administration of the Sales ledger accounts
15. Review monthly catering hospitality charges
16. Attend training and to develop relevant knowledge and skills
Experience, competencies and knowledge required:
17. Must drive and have own transport due to rural workplace location
18. Recently qualified /Part qualified CIMA, ACCA or equivalent
19. Good working knowledge of MS packages Excel, Outlook, Word
20. Excellent communication skills
21. The ability to work independently but also as part of a team.
