Overview

Operations Team Leader - Oswestry at Arla Foods UAE, Oman & Qatar

Location: Shropshire, Oswestry, SY10 8NL. Shift based role, 3 on 3 off (days and nights). Reports into the Core Team Leader and manages between 10 and 20 direct reports.


Responsibilities

* Manage performance, safety, quality and cost savings; deliver operational plans and day-to-day team objectives, including delivery of the site business plan and resolution of day-to-day issues/escalations.
* Ensure a safe, clean, and efficient working environment by applying 5S principles, GMP standards, and compliance with Arla’s Food Safety, H&S and Environment standards through internal audits.
* Support team development and performance through training, coaching, hands-on support, and resource organisation; manage direct reports including investigations and performance management.
* Optimise production processes to maintain a cost-efficient and stable operation; work with the M&E team leader to resolve technical issues promptly and contribute to continuous improvement of processes and ways of working.
* Drive departmental performance by implementing the department Business Plan, conducting walking tours and process confirmations, enabling daily direction setting meetings (DDS) and challenging processes to identify improvement opportunities.
* Ensure alignment and compliance by coordinating with the M&E team leader and conducting internal audits and process confirmations to meet Arla’s standards.
* Take responsibility for controlling any emergency issues/situations on site.


What you will need to succeed

We are seeking a Shift Leader with excellent people skills, enthusiasm and a positive attitude for implementing change and problem solving.


The Ideal Candidate Will Have

* Basic understanding of food manufacturing/FMCG
* Experience managing large teams in a fast-paced environment
* Knowledge of Lean Principles (Six Sigma qualification) would be preferred
* Previous experience within FMCG or dairy industry advantageous but not essential as training will be provided
