Audio/Speech ML Research (PhD Intern)
I am seeking a PhD student within the field of audio and speech machine learning research to join our client in a 6-month internship starting from summer 2024. An excellent opportunity to work on the research and software development of on-device AI methods, alongside subject matter experts in the field. Note that for this position, you must be able to work on-site in Surrey, England at least 3 days a week and you’ll get a chance to see your work deployed globally into real-world consumer products.
Primary responsibilities
Innovate & develop state-of-the-art solutions to industry relevant problems in the field of on-device machine learning
Work on complex systems and develop research ideas into production ready software
Required experience
1. Must be currently working towards your PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics or similar with strong machine learning and audio/speech fundamentals, and have first author publications in top ML/AI conferences/journals such as ICML, NeurIPS, ICLR, CVPR, SysML, INTERSPEECH, IEEE TPAMI, IEEE IoT, IEEE TNNLS, JMLR
2. Research specialism in one of the following: Speech Recognition, Speech Enhancement, Audio Processing and Generation, Generative AI
Desired experience
3. A proven track record of developing complex training and inference pipelines
4. Knowledge of embedded and/or distributed machine learning methods and tools
5. Experience with model optimisation, profiling and performance improvement of AI pipelines
6. Contribution to open source software libraries
