White Horse is working with a leading UK food manufacturer and supplier supporting the healthcare, education and care sectors.
We are looking for an experienced Bid Writer who will play a pivotal role in protecting and growing revenue. As Bid Writer, you will take ownership of the full bid lifecycle, producing persuasive, compliant and high-quality submissions aligned to business strategy. You will work closely with senior stakeholders across healthcare, education and care, as well as collaborating with a large national sales team to extract insight and build winning propositions.
You will also oversee a Tender Co-ordinator and take responsibility for developing the bid function, strengthening systems, processes and the bid library to ensure long-term success.
Key responsibilities include:
* Owning and managing the end-to-end bid process, from opportunity identification through to submission and feedback
* Crafting clear, persuasive and engaging bid responses using strong storytelling and evidence-based value propositions
* Working with senior stakeholders to extract insight, differentiators and commercial positioning
* Managing and supporting the Tender Co-ordinator, ensuring deadlines, compliance and data accuracy
* Building and maintaining a robust Bid Library including case studies, boilerplate content, win themes and lessons learned
* Interpreting and presenting pricing and commercial information clearly and competitively
* Supporting the drafting and review of customer contracts and renewals in collaboration with finance
* Providing bid expertise to support sales onboarding and the wider customer journey
* Managing multiple submissions to tight deadlines using strong project management discipline
* Conducting post-bid reviews to drive continuous improvement
* Ensuring quieter tender periods are used productively to enhance content, systems and knowledge sharing
About You
This role suits an experienced Bid Writer who is confident in handling large, complex and regulated bids and is ready to step into a more senior, visible position.
Essential experience:
* 3–5+ years’ experience as a Bid Writer or Proposal Manager
* Strong experience within healthcare, NHS, education, care, or regulated B2B environments
* Exceptional copywriting and storytelling ability
* Confident stakeholder management skills, including senior leaders and commercial teams
* Proven ability to manage multiple deadlines under pressure without compromising quality
* High attention to detail and accuracy
* Strong commercial awareness, including pricing and value propositions
Desirable:
* NHS, local authority or public sector procurement experience
* Knowledge of healthcare compliance frameworks
* Experience with bid management software
* Contract drafting or legal exposure
* APMP or similar accreditation
