Duration: Project-based (approx. 12 months depending on programme)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to lead the delivery of a major commercial fit-out project in Bristol. This role will take full responsibility for managing the project lifecycle from mobilisation through to completion, ensuring the scheme is delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
Working closely with the client, design teams, contractors and internal stakeholders, the Project Manager will play a critical role in coordinating programme, managing risk, and driving project performance on site.
This is an excellent opportunity for a highly organised and commercially minded individual with a strong background in commercial office fit-out environments.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery
* Lead the end-to-end delivery of a large-scale commercial fit-out project.
* Develop and manage the project programme, ensuring key milestones are achieved.
* Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers throughout the project lifecycle.
* Monitor project progress and proactively resolve issues impacting delivery.
Client & Stakeholder Management
* Act as the primary point of contact between client, contractor and design teams.
* Chair project meetings and provide clear reporting on progress, risks and programme status.
* Ensure client expectations are understood and consistently delivered.
Commercial & Risk Management
* Monitor project budgets and track cost variations.
* Identify and mitigate potential project risks.
* Support procurement processes and subcontractor management where required.
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure works are delivered in line with design intent, specifications, and regulatory requirements.
* Maintain health & safety compliance across the project.
* Oversee quality control procedures and snagging processes.
Programme & Reporting
* Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting.
* Track progress against programme and highlight any risks to delivery.
* Provide regular updates to senior stakeholders and leadership teams.
Experience & Skills Required
* Proven experience delivering large commercial office fit-out projects.
* Background working within traditional fit-out contractors.
* Strong knowledge of construction project management processes and delivery.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple stakeholders and complex programmes.
* Excellent communication, organisation, and leadership skills.
* Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage budgets and risks.
Desirable
* Experience delivering projects valued £5-10m+.
* Familiarity with project management and construction reporting tools.
* Relevant construction or project management qualifications (e.g. APM, PRINCE2, or similar).
