Monday – Thursday
6:00am – 4:00pm
(4 x 10-hour day shifts)
We are currently recruiting for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing business in Barnsley working a permanent days-based shift pattern with only four days a week.
This role would suit an electrically biased engineer who enjoys a mix of hands-on maintenance, reliability improvement work, and continuous improvement projects. The position offers a strong balance between reactive maintenance and longer-term engineering improvements focused around machine reliability, downtime reduction, and site performance.
The Role
As a Maintenance Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining and improving production equipment across site. Alongside planned and reactive maintenance, you will also be involved in reliability-focused engineering activities including root cause analysis, downtime reduction projects, and continuous improvement initiatives.
You will work closely with production and engineering teams to identify recurring issues, improve machine performance, and help drive overall equipment reliability across the factory.
Key Responsibilities
* Electrical and mechanical maintenance on production and automated machinery
* Root cause analysis to identify and eliminate recurring faults
* Supporting continuous improvement (CI) and reliability projects
* Assisting with machine upgrades, installations, and modifications
* Monitoring equipment performance and identifying opportunities for improvement
* Working to reduce downtime and improve overall plant reliability
Requirements
* Electrical bias maintenance experience within manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments
* Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills
* Experience working on production or automated machinery
* Understanding of reliability, downtime reduction, or continuous improvement methodologies would be advantageous
* Engineering qualifications such as NVQ, City & Guilds, or Apprenticeship beneficial
