Role Overview:
As an Electrical Engineer supporting theElectrical EngineeringLead, you will play acritical rolein the delivery of infrastructure and asset development projects at a major dockyard facility. You will work across various stages of project delivery, fromscopinganddesignthrough to implementation, testing and commissioning. Yourtechnicalinput will directly contribute to maintaining and enhancing facility infrastructure to meet operational, safety, and compliance requirements.
While theElectrical EngineeringLead will oversee and guide your work, your role will require a hands-on, detail-oriented approach and the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with theElectrical EngineeringLead to gathertechnicalrequirements and assist in translating them into workableelectrical engineeringsolutions.
* Contribute to thedesignand development of modifications to existing systems and the implementation of new infrastructure,ensuring compliancewith electrical standards and site regulations.
* Assist in the preparation and review oftechnical documentation, including specifications, drawings, risk assessments, and reports.
* Participate in sitesurveysand inspections to support the planning and development of engineering solutions.
* Support installation, commissioning, and testing activities, ensuring alignment withdesignintent and compliance obligations.
* Useelectrical CADtools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical) to produce and update electrical schematics, layouts, and diagrams.
* Liaise with suppliers, contractors, and internal teams to ensure correct interpretation and delivery oftechnicalinformation.
* Identify and escalatetechnicalrisks, non-conformities, or operational challenges to theElectrical EngineeringLead.
* Maintain accurate records of work and contribute toprogress reportingas required.
Work Experience
Required Qualifications & Experience:
* ONC (Ordinary National Certificate) or equivalent inElectrical Engineering(minimum).
* At least 3 years of practical experience in a relevantelectrical engineeringenvironment.
* Proficiency in interpreting and creating electrical schematics andtechnicaldrawings.
* Working knowledge of low-voltage systems,power distribution, andelectrical installationstandards.
* Familiarity with industry regulations and standards (e.g., BS7671, IEC, or equivalent).
* Comfortable working in a regulated or safety-critical environment.
* Strong communication andcollaboration skills.
Desirable Skills:
* Experience in dockyard, defence, marine, or infrastructure projects.
* Understanding of HV (High Voltage) electrical systems.
* Knowledge of building services integration or backup power systems.
* Experience withdesigntools such asETAPor similar is an advantage.
* Ability to adapt to changing requirements and multi-project environments.
