Part Time SEN Science Teacher - Aurora Severnside School
Location: Berkeley, South Gloucestershire
Contract: 4 days (0.8), permanent

Aurora Severnside is a bespoke school for - year olds with SEMH needs, having taken the best elements of a mainstream school and the best elements of a special school to create an environment where young people can achieve their own goals and thrive in a future of their own choosing. Your Role:
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children and young people with complex needs? As our SEN Science Teacher, you’ll play a vital role in delivering high-quality, tailored education to pupils with SEN needs including SEMH and ASD and other anxiety-related challenges. Many of our students have a variety of additional learning needs including Autism, ADHD and SEMH needs, and can present with behaviours linked to their diagnosis.
Key duties:
1. Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, having regard to the educational, physical and social needs of the students within a learning environment.
2. Work collaboratively with other members of staff as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
3. Maintain and use short, medium and long term plans in delivering the curriculum.
4. Set, monitor and review personalised targets that will optimise learning for each individual.
5. Monitor, assess, review and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed and as is required through school policies and procedures.
6. Maintain knowledge through training and research where appropriate and take responsibility for own professional development.
7. Develop lesson plans analysing and self-reflecting on the outcomes.
8. Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP and LAC reviews
Skills and Qualifications
What you’ll bring:
Essential:
9. A PGCE, Qualified Teacher Status, or equivalent teaching qualification, along with evidence of continued professional development.
10. Experience teaching Science up to GCSE level
Desirable:
11. A Postgraduate Diploma in SEN.
12. Experience in delivering a differentiated curriculum tailored to a wide range of learning needs.
