Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Activities Director to join our team in providing enriching and engaging activities for residents in our care home. The ideal candidate will have a passion for enhancing the quality of life for our service users, particularly those with dementia or Alzheimer's care needs. This role is vital in fostering a vibrant community atmosphere that promotes social interaction, physical activity, and mental stimulation.
Duties
* Develop and implement a comprehensive activities programme tailored to the interests and abilities of residents.
* Coordinate and lead group activities, including arts and crafts, games, exercise classes, and outings.
* Assess the individual needs of residents to provide personalised activity plans that cater to their preferences.
* Collaborate with caregiving staff to ensure activities are safe and appropriate for all residents, particularly those requiring dementia care.
* Maintain accurate records of resident participation and feedback to continually improve the activities offered.
* Organise special events and celebrations that encourage community involvement and enhance resident engagement.
* Communicate effectively with residents, families, and staff to promote upcoming activities and encourage participation.
Skills
* Previous experience in assisted living or nursing home settings is essential.
* Strong background in senior care, particularly with dementia and Alzheimer's care.
* Excellent communication skills to effectively engage with residents, families, and team members.
* Ability to create a warm, welcoming environment that fosters social interaction among residents.
* Experience in caregiving or care home settings is highly desirable.
* Creative thinking skills to develop innovative activities that cater to diverse interests.
* Strong organisational skills to manage multiple activities simultaneously while ensuring a high standard of care.
