Housing Officer – Housing Management Team, 8 North Ness, Lerwick, Shetland. This vacancy is a career graded post, with a development pathway and funded qualifications where required.

If you have excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to problem solve and work under pressure, this role offers an exciting opportunity to provide effective housing management and allocation services for Shetland Islands Council’s housing stock and for homeless services.
Responsibilities
* Undertake tenancy management, homelessness, application management and tenant participation work.
* Carry out comprehensive assessments of housing need and provide housing advice and information across all tenures to a wide audience.
* Work professionally with clear customer focus, independently or as part of a team, and establish rapport with people from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience in Housing Management or related discipline (e.g., Health Service, Social Work, Community Work; other frontline public service).
* Strong professional approach with the ability to work under pressure and maintain high standards of customer service.
* Willingness to travel throughout Shetland at short notice; ability to adapt to flexible working arrangements.

* Entry level requirements and progression routes are outlined in the associated Career Grade document; where a qualification is required, it will be fully funded by the Council.
Additional Information
* Salary shown includes Distant Islands Allowance (pro rata).
* Full-time, 37 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
* Relocation package does not apply; interview expenses paid from within Shetland.
* Location: 8 North Ness, Lerwick, Shetland.
