Contract Information
Full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract (salary £44,746 – £56,353)
Purpose
Provide learning and development solutions across the University, ensuring delivery against BNU’s Talent Strategy with a focus on implementing digital learning and performance tools. Drive strategic, cultural and measurable change to improve leadership and performance.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the implementation of the new Learning and Performance platform for all staff, running system usage sessions and supporting the associated culture change.
* Lead internal apprenticeship schemes, partnering with providers to advertise programmes, advise current learners and advocate apprenticeships as a development route.
* Collaborate with specialist areas to advise, train and deliver sessions on priority subjects.
* Deliver quarterly employee inductions and advocate for BNU’s values.
* Support planning and delivery of the annual Staff Summit, a two‑day event promoting lifelong learning.
* Advocate for the Care Leaver Programme, supporting hiring managers and new starters throughout onboarding.
* Partner with external training providers to sustain and grow development programmes.
* Oversee Learning Excellence Programme (LEP) activities.
* Drive mandatory training compliance, monitor completion rates and advise accordingly.
* Carry out any additional duties reasonably required.
Person Specification
Education, Qualifications & Training
* Evidence of continued professional development.
* Chartered MCIPD or equivalent experience.
Knowledge & Experience
* Experience developing and delivering learning solutions at all levels within a large, complex, unionised organisation.
* Proficiency with digital technology and embedding digital learning solutions.
* Experience working within an HR or L&D team.
* Experience designing solutions that facilitate culture change, especially customer service‑focused.
* Expert knowledge of interventions to improve employee experience.
Skills
* Proficient in Microsoft tools.
* Adept at speaking up, responding sensitively to challenge and creating safe spaces for dialogue.
* Ability to design and deliver digital learning solutions.
* Strong verbal and non‑verbal communication and influencing skills at all levels.
Special Requirements
* May be required to travel across campuses, with occasional evening events or conferences.
