Project Engineer – Mechanical (Hands-On, Technical & Varied Role)
Salary: £30,000–£38,000 DOELocation: Rural Lancashire (near major motorway links)Hours: Monday–Friday, 8am–5pm (with some flexibility)

This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys variety—splitting their time between engineering offices, workshops, client sites, and supplier visits—while contributing to the development, improvement, and support of specialist mechanical equipment used across major civil engineering projects.
About the Role
As a Project Engineer, you’ll work closely with senior technical and engineering leaders, supporting projects from concept through to delivery. You will quickly become familiar with the company’s specialist equipment and play a key role in ensuring smooth operation, development and documentation of machinery and related systems.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the sourcing of components for upgrades, improvements and control systems
* Gathering and maintaining technical records for new and existing plant
* Writing and contributing to operations, maintenance, and safety documentation
* Supporting a wide range of day-to-day technical and operational tasks
* Laboratory testing of soil and slurry samples
* Hands-on work in the plant yard and at client sites
* Producing engineering and technical drawings for fabrication teams, suppliers, and clients
* Supporting ongoing improvements across mechanical, fabrication and operational processes
Training can be provided on company-specific systems and software where required.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from degree or diploma qualified engineers who are passionate about mechanical engineering and eager to take on a varied and practical role.
Essential:
* Degree or diploma in an engineering-related discipline
* At least 2 years’ practical mechanical engineering experience
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts clearly
* Ability to work in the UK
* Full UK driving licence, own vehicle and a current passport
* A genuine interest in engineering, problem-solving and hands-on work
Desirable:
* Experience using 3D CAD (Solid Edge experience is an advantage, training can be provided)
* Experience interacting with clients, suppliers and multidisciplinary engineering teams
