Housing Standards Officer needed in Exeter Paying £44 per hr ref 5288024
Full time hours on a temporary basis
Key Responsibilities
* Carry out inspections of private rented properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS).
* Investigate complaints relating to poor housing conditions, overcrowding, damp, mould, or disrepair.
* Take enforcement action where necessary, including improvement notices, prohibition orders, and civil penalties.
* Provide guidance to landlords, agents, and tenants on housing standards and legal responsibilities.
* Support the delivery of licensing schemes such as HMO licensing or selective licensing.
* Prepare reports, maintain accurate records, and present evidence when required.
* Work collaboratively with internal and external partners to protect vulnerable residents and improve housing safety.
