Job Duties and Responsibilities:
On a daily basis, as the Business Analysis Manager, you will act as the deputy to the Head of Business Analysis & Technical Writing, conducting line management responsibilities and supporting the strategic and operational development of the Business Analysis function. You will lead a team of Business Analysts at varying levels of seniority, ensuring high-quality delivery, professional growth, and the adoption of best practices across the team.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide day-to-day line management for Business Analysts (Junior to Principal level)
* Deliver coaching, mentorship, and regular feedback to support individual growth
* Conduct performance management activities, including goal setting, 1:1s, and performance reviews
* Support recruitment efforts: review CVs, participate in interviews, and assist with onboarding new hires
* Identify and address training and development needs across the team
* Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability
Team Development & Support:
* Guide team members in resolving challenges and navigating complex situations
* Support career development through tailored growth plans and coaching
* Promote a coaching-led approach to problem-solving and decision-making
* Mentor and train Junior Business Analysts to build foundational skills
Process & Practice Leadership:
* Maintain business analysis processes, templates, and standards
* Identify and implement process improvements in collaboration with the Head of Business Analysis & Technical Writing
* Champion the adoption of business analysis best practices across the team
Project Delivery & Support:
* Lead Discovery and Scoping phases for new project requests; analysing project scope, eliciting high-level functional and non-functional requirements, and producing High-Level Designs and Statements of Work
* Conduct high-level analysis of customer change requests to support impact assessments
* Step into the Lead BA role on projects when needed to cover absences, including:
- Leading BA teams in requirements elicitation and analysis
- Supporting backlog refinement and change request analysis
- Reviewing BA deliverables for quality and consistency
- Producing user stories, process diagrams, wireframes, and data mappings
Stakeholder Engagement:
* Communicate complex topics clearly to technical and non-technical audiences
* Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including senior leaders
* Confidently manage stakeholder expectations and navigate conflicts when necessary
* Deputise for the Head of Business Analysis & Technical Writing as required

* Proven experience in a leadership role within a Business Analysis function
* Strong background in line management, performance management, and recruitment
* Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop team members
* Skilled in motivating and inspiring teams to achieve their potential
* Comfortable delivering constructive feedback and handling difficult conversations
* Extensive experience in requirements gathering, process analysis, and documentation
* Proficient in writing user stories and acceptance criteria (Gherkin format preferred)
* Experience defining requirements and user stories in a digital environment e.g. websites, apps, internal systems
* Strong understanding of Agile methodologies, particularly Scrum
* Experience using Jira for backlog and sprint management
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
* Comfortable working with challenging stakeholders and managing conflict between stakeholders
* Experience with REST APIs and API integration projects
* Background in the logistics industry
* Familiarity with Microservices architecture
