Job Opportunity: Mechanical Project Manager
Salary: £55,000-£65,000 per annum, dependent on experience, plus negotiable car allowance.
About the Company
Our client is a design and build contractor providing comprehensive design, installation, and management services. Their offerings include project management, design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Mechanical, Electrical, and Public Health Engineering Services, with a focus on renewable energy solutions.
Role Overview
The ideal candidate will have experience managing commercial projects valued at least £1.5m, with a background in Mechanical Engineering installation projects within the Commercial, Industrial, or Public sectors. The candidate should be technically proficient and commercially aware.
Key Responsibilities
1. Manage Mechanical Services installation contracts from estimate handover to project completion and final accounts.
2. Procure plant, materials, and sub-contractor packages, ensuring best value.
3. Forecast and manage project spend using purchasing software and spreadsheets.
4. Analyze labor requirements, control costs, and monitor work progress through site visits.
5. Manage projects to meet contractual targets and prepare monthly payment applications and variation costs.
6. Ensure health and safety compliance through risk assessments and method statements.
7. Prepare progress reports for directors.
8. Collaborate with clients, engineers, architects, surveyors, and internal teams, maintaining strong relationships.
9. Participate in project meetings and assist in tender preparations.
10. Compile certification and O&M manuals.
11. Assess customer needs and respond effectively.
12. Demonstrate leadership, motivation, and organizational skills.
13. Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
14. Apply analytical and problem-solving skills.
15. Possess sound knowledge of Mechanical Services Project Management and technical, commercial, and contractual processes.
16. CAD experience is a plus (not essential).
17. Understand HVAC systems well.
18. Manage staff and oversee personnel effectively.
19. Be commercially astute and proficient with Microsoft Office tools.
