Founded in 1985, Techrete is a leading architectural precast concrete facade contractor with facilities in Dublin and North Lincolnshire and offices in London and Leicester.
We are recruiting for the position of Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team and contribute to the design and development of our facade elements.
About the Role
With a commitment to a carbon neutral environment, we aim to manufacture energy-efficient facade designs through efficient material use and rigorous design principles. To complement our in-house design capabilities, we are adding a Structural Design Engineer to assist in designing and developing our facade elements.
Key Responsibilities
* Design of unique architectural precast concrete facade systems and supporting fixings on flagship projects in commercial, residential, leisure, and healthcare sectors.
* Collaborate with client design teams to develop bespoke facade solutions that address architectural, structural, and site constraints.
* Liaise with in-house Production and Installation Teams to ensure optimal design for manufacture, transport, and site erection.
* Work on both Concept and Detail Designs for each project.
* Prepare calculations and review drawings for production.
* Report to a Senior Structural Engineer and work with experienced design teams.
* Occasional travel between Ireland and the UK for meetings and site inspections.
* Opportunity to develop engineering design and project management skills on diverse building types in Ireland and the UK.
About You
* Ability to work on own initiative in a busy environment with mentorship from the engineering team.
* Good analytical and numerical skills.
* Good knowledge of Building Regulations.
* Strong communication and team-building skills.
* Working knowledge of construction and constructability practices related to facades.
* Excellent attention to detail, written and oral communication skills.
* Experience with Design Software including AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit, SketchUp and Excel; familiarity with structural engineering design packages.
* Experience in the precast concrete industry is an advantage.
Qualifications / Expertise
* Education: Degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years' experience with reinforced concrete and steel design.
* Aspiring Chartered Engineer (in-house mentorship and training provided).
* Experience in the precast concrete industry is an advantage.
* Experience in the use of Design Software including AutoCAD, Tekla, Revit, SketchUp and Excel.
