Family Service Worker – Additional Roles and Responsibilities
1. Provide high-quality, child-led contact to looked-after children and young people with their families within a contact centre or the wider community. Observe, offer relevant support and guidance during contact to ensure the immediate safety and needs of the child are met. Promote quality and stimulating contact, and provide accurate written and verbal information to contribute to the ongoing care plan.
2. Provide an efficient, needs-led supervised contact service to children, young people, and their families both within a contact centre and when accessing community resources, as directed by the Family Time Manager.
3. Effectively communicate with children, young people, and their families to enable quality, child-led contact.
4. Record all observations in line with current recording policy, maintaining accurate and high-quality records to evidence observations made during contact.
5. Establish and sustain effective professional relationships with children, their families, and other professionals, ensuring a high standard of service. Attend planning meetings with social workers to provide feedback supporting planning and review processes for looked-after children and young people.
6. Work flexible hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, as required by service needs.
