College of Medical and Health Sciences
The College provides students with a world-class learning experience characterised by scientific rigour, practical relevance, and in particular a collaborative, multi-disciplinary approach to our teaching and research.
The College, through the University, has formally linked with the Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board enabling an integrated approach to developing research, training, medical and healthcare education that will serve the needs of North Wales. Although each school/institute preserves its specific identity and subject integrity, the College fosters inter-school collaboration and shared academic goals and practices.
School of Health Sciences
The School of Health Sciences is an interprofessional school which sits within the College of Medicine and Health and provides health and care education and research at Bangor University. The School works in partnership with health, social and educational care providers through well-established links to enable a total clinical and academic experience to be provided for students on healthcare professional programmes. The School offers a career-spanning portfolio of undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and short courses for health and care and allied professionals.
The School Mission Statement reflects our aims to champion and promote excellent health and social care science, research, scholarship, teaching and learning, quality and values with people who use services, practitioners, and stakeholders. To promote language and cultural competence relevant to local, national and international partners, and to provide an inclusive culture and environment for staff and students within the School.

Purpose of the Job
This post is available on our teaching and scholarship career track. The School of Health Sciences values the partnership we have with students and prioritise support and encouragement for all our students across their differing programmes. The School offers a welcoming context for less experienced lecturers to develop their potential. We provide an in-depth induction and academic mentorship, plus opportunities to undertake a PGCERT in Advanced HE leading to a nationally recognised qualification.
The successful candidate will have opportunities to contribute to teaching and learning across the School’s portfolio of programmes and through our interprofessional modules. The successful candidate will also be expected to contribute to wider deliver to reflect their professional and teaching specialisms. Our teaching is student centred, supported by a strong interprofessional education ethos, provide experience in a range of settings and place a strong emphasis on partnership working with the regional health and care sector.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching duties will include:
1. Plan, prepare and deliver lectures and tutorials responding effectively to a variety of student backgrounds, learning styles, personal support plans and class sizes.
2. Motivate students to proactive engagement in learning and provide meaningful and constructive feedback on the quality of their work.
3. Keep abreast of new professional, educational and related social, economic and technological developments in health and care.
4. Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate projects.
5. Be personal tutor to a number of undergraduate and postgraduate students, providing the highest quality, consistent, advice, guidance and support.
6. Contribute to the development of programmes and undertaking role of module coordinator or contributing to module co-ordination.
7. Maintain and develop scholarly activities in line with University and College strategies. • Publish and share evidence of scholarship related to learning and teaching in books, articles and/or papers in academic journals.
8. Ensure adherence to organisational and professional body (i.e. NMC/HCPC) requirements in all aspects of academic work, and in personal professional development.
9. Engage in scholarly, professional and improvement-related activities around health and care education in partnership with students, local stakeholders and service users.
10. Contribute to the growth and improvement of the practice learning circuit capacity and quality, and support students’ learning in practice.
11. Actively engage in strategic and project-related activities that maximise student engagement, and that mitigate the risks of attrition.
12. Lead the development of new modules, and the re-design and improvement of existing modules.
Administrative and Wider Contribution duties will include:
13. Participate in the student recruitment and induction procedures of the School (e.g. School and University Open Days).
14. Contribute to the School's management and participate in the administration of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (e.g. organisation of exams, contribute to accreditation/QA procedures as module co-ordinator.
15. Contribute to the marketing of programmes by participating in School and College link activities and other marketing initiatives.
16. Undertake other administrative duties and responsibilities as directed by the Head of School (e.g. membership of School boards and task groups, addressing/supporting undergraduate and postgraduate student experience, contributing to community engagement).
17. Through partnership roles, disseminate information about the School’s portfolio, and capture intelligence about stakeholders’ future education and training requirements.

Essential :
23. Degree in a relevant subject area.
24. Professional registration (e.g. NMC, HCPC)

27. A sound knowledge of contemporary policy and practice in health and care.
28. Evidence of teaching in clinical or academic settings.

31. Capability to develop and manage projects, and to disseminate results through presentation at relevant conferences.
