Description The full-time starting salary is normally £42,860.00 per annum, with progression available in post to £46,586.00 per annum. Grade: UL Permanent Part Time Role - Pro rata Salary The Secondary Initial Teacher Training team have an exciting opportunity for specialist in Secondary Physical Education to join our team as a Lecturer. We have developed a shared vision for educational excellence with our partner schools and our courses reflect our commitment to partnership working and training the next generation of secondary teachers. This role also includes teaching on the PGCE Secondary Physical Education programme. You will be able to evidence that you are an outstanding practitioner of Secondary PE, be highly motivated, well-organised and passionate about delivering exceptional evidence-based PE teacher training. You will have up to date and relevant knowledge of Secondary Physical Education and the Secondary National Curriculum evidenced through your current role, prior teaching experience and qualifications. You will also have evidence of mentoring trainees in a school setting. You will have real energy and passion for your area, this will be demonstrated through your developing research interests and your network connections. You will develop and apply inspiring teaching techniques and content which fosters enthusiasm, understanding and critical enquiry amongst undergraduate and postgraduate trainee teachers. The role includes working on ITE courses across Undergraduate and Postgraduate routes and providing professional development. You must be able to work closely with colleagues in partner schools to establish and maintain links which ensure strong theory to practice connections. Providing pastoral support and enabling students to thrive and become independent professionals who are proud to be part of Birmingham City University is essential to your role. You will be supported to develop research, enterprise and scholarly activities which are integral to the post. Applicants must hold a first degree and have QTS. Experience of teaching in Secondary schools is essential and prior experience of working in Initial Teacher Training or mentoring trainees on ITE courses is desirable. A higher degree would be desirable to fulfil the requirements of this post. This is a part-time role, with working days required to include Monday.
