Job Overview
We have a fantastic opportunity for Ambulance Care Assistants to join our team based at Ashville Close, Nottingham.
Contract: Permanent/Nights only – 1900‑0700, alternating weeks of 3 and 4 shifts, average 38.5 hours per week.
The start date for this position is 13th April 2026. We can only consider applications from candidates able to start on that date.
Responsibilities
* Transport elderly, sick and vulnerable service users to and from medical appointments and between healthcare facilities, either as part of a two‑person crew or alone.
* Transport ‘end of life’ service users with empathy and professionalism.
* Build rapport by effectively communicating with patients and their relatives/friends.
* Lift, secure and help service users in and out of the ambulance.
* Assist in handing over patients to appropriate staff on arrival at treatment centres or to family/friends at home.
* Transfer patients from beds to stretchers, chairs to chairs or similar, both in and out of hospital and during medical or commercial flights.
* Help service users with challenging behaviour or mental health issues.
* Maintain the ambulance’s safety, cleanliness and tidiness.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Committed to patient care.
* Effective communicator, experienced in emotional circumstances.
* Calm, considerate, careful driver.
* Natural flair for teamwork and collaboration.
* Pass enhanced DBS check (company funded).
* Familiar with local and surrounding area.
* Hold a valid UK manual driving licence with less than 6 points.
* Physically fit for patient handling and moving.
* Able to work flexible shifts.
