We are looking for a talented and versatile Sound Engineer and Podcast Producer to work across our brands, Spectator, Apollo Magazine and UnHerd.

The primary responsibility of this role is to elevate and maintain broadcast-quality audio standards across all our podcasts, ensuring every recording is clean, crisp, and professionally mixed. Your day-to-day will involve managing our studio equipment and acoustics, and applying advanced post-production techniques to achieve the best possible sound.

Working closely with our editorial teams, you will oversee the entire audio production lifecycle, from setups to detailed editing, mixing, and mastering. Your technical expertise will be crucial in producing a diverse range of content, from headline-grabbing weekly podcasts to narrative series and live event recordings.

Requirements

* Strong skills in Adobe Audition and Pro Tools are required; experience with Descript is highly desirable.
* A go-getting problem solver who works well under pressure to deliver a high-quality product.
* Intimate knowledge of studio and field recording equipment, including microphones, mixers, and audio interfaces.
* A flair for creating stand-out audio content, with a keen ear for sound design, music, and pacing.
* Knowledge of the podcasting ecosystem, including hosting platforms (e.g., Acast, Libsyn), distribution, and analytics.
* An understanding of how to package and promote audio content to maximise reach and engagement.
* A strong news and cultural sense, and a clear understanding of the distinct editorial voices of The Spectator, UnHerd, and Apollo.
* Ability to work independently and possess excellent people skills, comfortable coaching guests and hosts to get the best performance.
* Ability to work flexible hours and travel if needed.
* Strong planning and organisational skills.

Benefits

* Training & Development.
* 3% Employer Contribution Pension Scheme.
* Generous Holiday Allowance with 25 days holiday per calendar year + birthday holiday bonus + Bank Holiday Leave
* All staff receive generous discounts at our Ground Floor restaurant, as well as free pantry of tea & coffee, fruits & snacks.
* Generous subsidising of private healthcare with the option to add dependents and spouses.
* Cycle to work scheme saving you 25-39% on a bike and accessories.
* Interest free season ticket loan available to assist in the cost of travelling to and from the workplace.
