We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Wellbeing Advisor to join our friendly and dynamic Crawley Wellbeing team. You will play a key role in delivering the Crawley Wellbeing Service as part of the wider West Sussex Wellbeing Programme.
This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of adults who live or work in Crawley. You’ll help improve health outcomes and reduce inequalities across our communities. This is particularly important as we move through local government reorganisation and strengthen our place based approach to public health.
As Senior Wellbeing Advisor, you will provide day to day leadership and supervision for the Wellbeing Advisor team, ensuring high quality behaviour change support is delivered consistently. You will oversee the efficient operation of the Crawley Wellbeing Hub, managing referrals, coordinating service delivery, supporting monitoring and reporting, and maintaining strong relationships with local partners.
You will lead the development and delivery of both the Hub’s advisory service and its mobile outreach programme, ensuring activities reflect local priorities, public health data and the annual business plan. The role also involves supporting community outreach, workplace health initiatives and use of the Wellbeing Mobile Unit to reach residents across the borough. You will help ensure advisors are confident delivering one to one and group based interventions in areas such as physical activity, nutrition, weight management, alcohol reduction, smoking cessation and NHS health checks.
You will represent the council at key partnership groups across public health, West Sussex County Council and wider system partners, contributing to collaborative efforts to strengthen evidence based health outcomes for Crawley residents. You will also support service planning, helping shape future direction and identifying opportunities for innovation, improvement and stronger action on health inequalities.
This is a key leadership role within a busy, supportive, community focused service. The role is ideal for someone passionate about public health, confident in leading a frontline team, and motivated to help shape a vital local service.
Shortlisted candidates will need to demonstrate how they meet the essential criteria in the job description and person specification, though training will be provided for the right candidate who can show the skills, qualities and potential needed for the role.
Additional information
Working hours: 37 hours per week working Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required for which time off in lieu can be claimed.
The post is for a fixed term contract initially up to 31 March 2028 with potential to extend, subject to external funding. Please feel free to discuss the funding agreement in more detail.
