The Upper Gastrointestinal Department invites applications for a fixed‑term Band 6 Upper GI Cancer Nurse Specialist to join our established Hepatobiliary (HPB) team, caring for patients affected by HPB cancer.
About the Role
As a Band 6 Upper GI Cancer Nurse Specialist you will work flexibly within a dynamic environment to ensure safe and effective delivery of care. The key responsibilities include:
* Work alongside the senior HPB clinical nurse specialist in delivering high‑quality Upper GI services and covering HPB cancer patient pathways.
* Advise, assess and support patients and families, providing expert care and treatment recommendations.
* Participate in education, research and audit activities to advance knowledge and improve practice.
* Act as the key worker for a caseload of patients, exercising clinical decision‑making and monitoring standards of care.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to ensure seamless, coordinated and timely care.
Qualifications & Experience
* Registered Nurse with post‑registration experience and ongoing professional development.
* Strong communication skills and ability to build rapport with patients, families and clinical colleagues.
* Willingness to develop in‑depth knowledge of the Upper GI and HPB specialism.
* Demonstrated clinical decision‑making and ability to monitor and improve standards of care.
