Regional HR Business Partner (East)
Location: Essex
Contract: Fixed-term maternity cover for up to 12 months
Salary: £51,356 - £54,495 + wellbeing cash plan + pension scheme (LGPS) + additional Multi Academy Trust benefits
Hours: 37 (full-time)
Spirehouse is pleased to be representing a Multi Academy Trust who is seeking an experienced HR Business Partner to provide maternity cover within our East region. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced education HR professional or consultant to take on a senior, values-led placement within a large public sector organisation.
This hands-on role provides expert HR leadership across 12 schools in the Essex region. You will support schools through complex people matters while working closely with principals, regional leaders, and the wider HR services team.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and develop the regional HR team, including line management of two HR advisors and oversight of six HR coordinators, ensuring consistent, high-quality HR service in collaboration with the Lead HR Business Partner and Head of HR Services.
* Manage complex employee relations cases, covering discipline, grievance, absence, capability, and safeguarding/child protection issues.
* Advise and support schools through restructures, organisational change, and other strategic HR initiatives.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
* Extensive HR experience in education, local authority, or wider public sector settings.
* Confident in leading complex employee relations and safeguarding investigations.
* Skilled at managing a broad caseload across multiple sites.
* Credible, calm, and collaborative, with strong relationship-building skills.
* Experienced in leading HR teams in multi-site environments.
* Comfortable working at pace and managing competing priorities.
Location & Working Pattern
* Hybrid working: typically three days on site, two days remote
* Base location: Witham, Essex, with regular travel to other schools in the region as required
* Candidates must be based in Essex and able to travel between schools
