Overview
Regan Veterinary Group at Holly House in Wigan, Greater Manchester, is on the lookout for a dynamic Head Veterinary Surgeon – or an ambitious veterinary duo ready to lead together. This is a permanent, full-time role overseeing two clinics: Holly House Veterinary Surgery in Hindley and Little Lane Veterinary Surgery in Wigan. You will join a well-established practice with strong community roots and a supportive management team.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical leadership as Head Veterinary Surgeon or as part of a veterinary duo across two clinics.
* Lead first-opinion and Advanced Practitioner‑led referral clinics; support a multidisciplinary team across surgery, ophthalmology, diagnostic imaging, and medicine.
* Justify clinical decision‑making with evidence-based medicine while maintaining a pragmatic approach to financial considerations.
* Develop a bonded client base and communicate clearly with clients.
* Contribute to practice growth and participate in management with the wider team and Advanced Practitioners.
Qualifications and experience
* Experience as a Head Veterinary Surgeon or as a veterinary duo capable of leading two clinics.
* Interest or certificates in ophthalmology and/or surgery are desirable; experience with multidisciplinary referral work is advantageous.
* Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills; commitment to evidence‑based medicine.
Base pay and benefits
We offer a competitive salary of up to £75k (higher for Advanced Practitioners), plus a comprehensive benefits package. Enjoy a healthy work‑life balance with a 4‑day week, 1 in 4 Saturdays, and no out‑of‑hours commitments. Salary is dependent on experience.

You will join a well‑established practice with strong community roots and big plans for the future. You’ll have support from an experienced management team, including Advanced Practitioners in Ophthalmology and Surgery, to back you every step of the way. The role covers two clinics: Holly House Veterinary Surgery (Hindley) and Little Lane Veterinary Surgery (Wigan). The wider team includes 5 senior vets and over 20 vets across 6 sites, with a multidisciplinary approach to cases.
