Blacknest Golf & Country Club is now recruiting for a full time Greenkeeper to join the team on a permanent basis. Unlike other typical Greenkeeping positions, this role will be involved in a range of duties in relation to the wider landscaping of the site.
About the Company
Here at Blacknest Golf & Country Club, we have some exciting plans in the making! We have built a stunning Tom Mackenzie and Ebert designed 12-hole golf course. Our new golf course comprises of USGA spec greens, a brand-new state of the art Rainbird irrigation system and a newly installed primary drainage system.
We are now reinventing the traditional golf experience by creating an innovative leisure led concept. As well as various golf, leisure and hospitality experiences, we will also deliver a unique accommodation offering which will include cabins in the natural setting.
Whilst offering fun and inclusive activities and experiences, we will also become an environmentally socially and economically sustainable leader in hospitality.
The exciting plans for the re-development of each site include:
A re-designed 12-hole golf course, including some new innovative features
A brand-new Putting Course and Driving Range
New leisure activities such as Pickleball and Padel Tennis

About the Role
The Greenkeeper will be part of a small Greenkeeping Team and will report to the Golf Course Manager.
This is a very active physically demanding role which will involve working outside.
The key duties and responsibilities of this role will include:
Positively interact and engage with our guests
Ensure all of our greens and golf courses are presented to a high standard
Mowing all playing surfaces and other areas of site
Treating the greens and golf course with fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides
Bunker management, including raking, weeding, levelling and strimming
Hand cutting greens and top dressing
Repair work to the greens and golf course
Ongoing maintenance and repairs such as changing holes and top dressing
Active pest management control to manage weeds and diseases
Assist with aeration, scarifying and irrigation
Monitor weather forecasts and the volume of rainfall
Overseeding and hand watering the greens
Safe use of machinery, including ride on mowers and hand machinery
Planting trees, shrubs and flowers
Planting vegetables and herbs in the Kitchen Garden
General maintenance of the wider site and sports areas
There will also be a varied programme of winter projects
This is a full-time permanent position and will work any five days out of seven. The salary for this role is circa £26,500/annum.
Location this is an onsite role and will be located at Blacknest Golf & Country Club, Frith End Road, Blacknest, Alton, Hants, GU34 4QL.
Working Hours shift times will start from 6.00 am. We operate annualised hours which means shift patterns and the number of hours worked each week varies throughout the year. The total number of hours over the whole year is based on or equivalent to 40 hours a week.
Working Days this role will work any five days out of seven and will involve working on weekends on a regular basis. Working hours will vary in line with the operating calendar and needs of the business.
About the Person
We are looking for a Greenkeeper who is:
Experienced in Greenkeeping and/or Landscaping
Excited about working outside in the fresh air
Passionate about maintaining our greens and golf course to a high standard
Focussed on the guest experience and detail orientated
Self-driven and highly motivated
Happy and able to work both independently and as part of a team
Proactive, positive and resilient by nature
Solutions driven
Comfortable working in a very fast paced environment and happy to be hands on
