Overview
Supports safeguarding of children across North Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, providing specialist advice, supervision and collaboration with partner agencies.
Responsibilities
* Provide specialist safeguarding children advice and support to practitioners.
* Deliver safeguarding supervision to staff to promote good practice, professional curiosity and critical thinking.
* Act in accordance with the Children Act 1989, 2004 and Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018, and monitor safeguarding standards.
* Work closely with Children's Social Care and other agencies to support integrated locality working.
* Contribute to multi‑agency and Trust audits, lead improvement programmes with the Named Nurse / Named Midwife.
* Support service development and implementation of learning from local and national safeguarding reviews.
* Contribute to the Trust safeguarding training programme, ensuring organisational training needs are met.
Key Working Relationships
* Internal: Named Nurse, Named Midwife, Named Doctors for Safeguarding Children; Group Associate Director of Safeguarding; Safeguarding Adults Team; Maternity staff, Emergency Department staff, Paediatric staff and Neonatal Unit staff; Health professionals from other organisations including mental health provider trusts and safeguarding teams in other providers.
* External: Designated Nurse Safeguarding Children; Designated Doctor Safeguarding Children; Police services; Named and Senior Nurses in neighbouring and national health care providers; Other multi‑agency partners including the voluntary sector.

Person Specification
Experience
* Significant post‑registration experience as a Band 6, including inter‑agency safeguarding practice.
* Experience working in the NHS.
* Experience delivering safeguarding supervision and understanding of the supervision process.
* Experience in clinical audit.

* Ability to work independently and prioritise child safety.

Qualifications and Training
* NMC Registered Nurse.
* Evidence of recent and continuing professional development.
* Leadership Certificate.
* Qualification or demonstrable experience in Safeguarding Supervision.
* Recognised qualification in adult education.
