Title: Experienced Structural Integrity Engineer
Location: Leatherhead, Bristol, Burton on Trent, Gloucester, Glasgow, Manchester or Plymouth
Salary range: £40,000 to £65,000 per annum depending on experience
Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.
We are seeking an experienced and motivated individual with a passion for managing and extending the life of ageing critical assets. If you are a capable engineering consultant with a background in asset integrity, condition assessments and asset life extension in fields relating to pressure equipment, pipework or rotating machinery, we would welcome your application. We deliver specialized guidance on the safe and efficient operation of assets across all industries, focusing on high value, high performance and safety‑critical assets across the full lifecycle from substantiation of new designs to supporting life extension of critical plant.
We are seeking experienced engineers with a background in design/assessment codes, plant operation, pressure vessels and pipe work, rotating machinery, complemented by experience with FEA, fatigue, fracture, plant investigations, failure analysis and fitness‑for‑service methods. It is advantageous to have experience in industries such as power generation/energy, process and chemical, turbomachinery and rotating equipment, rail and maritime, renewable energy, and Upstream/Downstream oil & gas. A consultancy background with experience in developing new business and delivering through the entire project cycle would be welcomed, but is not essential.
As a consultant, you will collaborate closely with customers to diagnose defects and develop strategies for individual vessels or entire production facilities or power stations. While primarily technical, you will work across the business and with clients, requiring good interpersonal skills, structured decision making, problem solving, initiative and ownership. You should be able to form effective teams with the capabilities to meet customer requirements and support the development and mentoring of junior team members. Responsibilities
* Manage and extend the life of ageing critical assets through asset integrity and life‑extension activities.
* Perform asset condition assessments, investigate failures, and apply fitness‑for‑service methods.
* Apply design/assessment codes and standards (e.g., ASME III, ASME VIII, API579, BS7608, BS7910, R5/R6).
* Conduct Finite Element Analysis (FEA) using Abaqus, Ansys, or LS‑Dyna and interpret results for engineering decisions.
* Work in a client‑facing role for project delivery and business development.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan and execute projects across the full lifecycle.
* Mentor and develop junior team members and build effective project teams.
Essential Requirements
* A degree in engineering or equivalent (MEng, MSc or PhD).
* Ability to travel and conduct site visits, customer meetings, and plant walkdowns.
* Deep technical knowledge in mechanical/structural engineering with familiarity across other disciplines.
* Experience with Finite Element Analysis (preferably Abaqus, Ansys or LS‑Dyna).
* Experience with codes and standards, such as ASME III, ASME VIII, API579, BS7608, BS7910, R5/R6.
* Experience in a customer‑facing role for project delivery and business development.
* Recognised by peers/industry as a trusted advisor in your discipline.
