About the Role
You’ll join the Marine team in Operations Catchment Services, applying technical expertise in marine environments, modelling, and data analysis to support evidence‑based decisions. We assess the impact of discharges on water quality across key areas and model bathing water quality in estuaries. We have two positions to backfill: one permanent and one fixed term for 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
* Review complex reports and summarise key information for decision‑making.
* Use data to inform water quality models.
* Apply sound records management principles.
* Interpret monitoring data and model outputs to support environmental protection.
* Summarise and communicate technical work and escalated challenges.
* Build strong relationships across a dispersed team and with external partners.
* Use initiative to contribute to the team and the wider organisation.
* Take on incident management duties with full training and support.
Required Experience and Skills
* Experience in data analysis and knowledge of modelling software.
* Proficiency in tools such as Excel, Access, R, Power BI, GIS, Mike or Cormix.
* Strong communication skills with non‑technical audiences.
* Ability to work virtually and travel for national meetings.
* Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline; pursuit of professional membership acceptable.
Desirable
Knowledge of water quality and marine environment.
