We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic, committed and self-motivated individual to join our Environmental Health (Residential) Team as a Selective Licensing Officer. Our Selective Licensing scheme covers all private rented properties in designated parts of the District. Your role will be to ensure the scheme operates effectively, working alongside landlords, tenants, and other local stakeholders to achieve this. You will deal with all aspects of the scheme, including inspecting homes to be licensed, advising landlords on work needed to their homes and engaging pro-actively with landlords and tenants to improve homes and the local community. You will have a lead role in taking enforcement action if the landlord fails to meet the licensing conditions and adhere to the reasonable requests made. You will have excellent communication skills and be a good problem solver and skilled negotiator. The role is a varied one, it is both challenging and rewarding and sits within a team that is both ambitious and forward thinking.
