THERAPY DEPARTMENT
* Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist - Band hours
* Glenfield Hospital
Due to recent investment a new Respiratory Support Unit has opened at Glenfield hospital. We are seeking a Band 7 Occupational Therapist who can lead on developing the OT service on this unit and demonstrate specialised clinical skills.
This post will allow an Occupational Therapist to work in an acute hospital setting using all of their psychosocial and mental health skills, alongside using their physical treatment skills.
The case load will require someone skilled at anxiety management, de-escalation of panic attacks, and early OT intervention to lesson an acute stress response. You will work alongside the Physiotherapists to carry out assessments and be responsible for assessing cognitive and functional abilities.
You will also work to facilitate discharge and optimise patient outcomes.
This is a new post therefore Service development will form a large part of the role.
You will work alongside an established Physiotherapy team and MDT.
You will also work alongside and support the wider Occupational Therapy teams.
Interviews will be held face to face at Glenfield Hospital.
You will be directly involved in audit and development of the service to continuously improve patient care. You will demonstrate excellent communication and leadership skills, working within a large multidisciplinary team to support functional assessments and interventions to facilitate safe and effective discharge planning for complex patients.
You will support and manage a team of Occupational Therapists, whilst working closing with Physiotherapists and support workers across the Glenfield teams.
Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years
We Have Four Primary Goals
* high-quality care for all,
* being a great place to work,
* partnerships for impact, and
* research and education excellence
And we will embed health equality in all we do - taking active steps to reduce the avoidable differences in healthcare that some people face, working in partnership with communities.
Our strategy is underpinned by new values and we will work to ensure they are an everyday reality for all:
* we are compassionate,
* we are proud,
* we are inclusive, and
* we are one team
This is an exciting moment as we look to the future with clarity on what we already do well and where we need to focus our energies to make an even bigger difference for the people we serve.
