Job Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Science & Technology Designer / Laboratory Planner to join their London team, working on a variety of national and international projects.
A Laboratory Planner is a specialist within the architectural and design industry, responsible for the programming and planning of laboratory facilities, including research and manufacturing environments. This role involves close collaboration with clients, design teams, and project stakeholders to create efficient, compliant, and innovative laboratory spaces that integrate seamlessly into broader building projects.
The successful candidate will have proven experience in this sector, strong communication skills, and the ability to work confidently across diverse project environments.
Key Responsibilities
* Planning & Programming: Lead the planning of laboratory spaces, considering equipment, workflows, compliance, and regulatory requirements.
* Design Development: Contribute to the design, development, and review of laboratory planning concepts to ensure functionality and efficiency.
* Client Engagement: Collaborate directly with clients to understand their needs and ensure project requirements are met.
* Technical Expertise: Apply knowledge of laboratory design standards, codes, and safety regulations across a wide range of research environments.
* Construction Support: Assist during the construction administration phase, ensuring delivery aligns with cost, programme, quality, and regulatory standards.
* Team Collaboration: Work with architects, engineers, and project managers to deliver coordinated and successful outcomes.
* Sustainable Design: Incorporate sustainable solutions where appropriate, including energy-efficient systems and environmentally conscious materials.
* Documentation: Produce and maintain accurate project documentation, including layouts, equipment lists, and technical information.
