Assistant Accountant OpportunityHays is recruiting for this role on an exclusive basis.

1. Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time ( hours per week)

3. Salary: £27,000 – £30,000 (dependent on skills and experience)
4. Working Pattern: Flexible hybrid working available, with flexi-hours offered

Overview
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a collaborative and forward-thinking finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting financial operations, contributing to accurate reporting, and ensuringpliance with funding and regulatory requirements. Working closely with project teams and senior finance colleagues, the Assistant Accountant will assist in budgeting, forecasting, ledger management, and financial analysis. This position is ideal for someone eager to develop their skills in a supportive environment that values continuous learning and professional growth. Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting &pliance
7. Support the preparation and submission of funding claims to various public sector bodies.
8. Assist in producing monthly management accounts, including variance analysis and financialmentary.
9. Contribute to accurate revenue recognition for projects.
10. Maintain organised records and supporting documentation for grant and match funding claims.
11. Monitor and report on project performance indicators through data entry and basic analysis.

Sales & Purchase Ledger Management
12. Help manage the sales ledger, including issuing invoices and reconciling customer accounts.
13. Process supplier invoices, manage payment runs, and reconcile supplier statements.
14. Ensure all financial transactions are recorded accurately and in a timely manner.
15. Investigate and resolve discrepancies, including those related to employee expenses.

Budgeting & Forecasting
16. Gather andpile financial data to support budgeting and forecasting activities.
17. Assist in preparing financial templates and monitoring reports for ongoing projects.

Stakeholder Support & Collaboration
18. Provide accurate financial data and insights to support project managers and internal teams.
19. Respond to routine financial queries from colleagues and external auditors.
20. Begin developing the ability to offer financial context to aid decision-making.

21. Ensure all claim documentation meets funder requirements and is submitted correctly.
22. Monitor timesheet and expense submissions for accuracy andpliance.
23. Assist in reviewing and updating financial procedures to reflect best practices.

24. Engage in training and development opportunities to enhance financial knowledge.
25. Collaborate with other departments to understand and support their financial needs.
26. Carry out ad hoc financial analysis to support business decisions and improve efficiency.
