The role
As a Piping Designer, you’ll play a vital role in delivering complex engineering solutions that support critical defence infrastructure. Working as part of a collaborative, multidisciplinary team, you’ll create and develop detailed piping designs that contribute to the safety, efficiency, and sustainability of major projects.
This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-impact programmes, helping to maintain and modernise essential systems while building your own technical expertise and career in defence, aerospace, and engineering.
Day-to-day, you’ll be required to:
1. Producing detailed piping layouts and 3D models using industry-standard design software
2. Developing and reviewing technical drawings, ensuring compliance with design standards and specifications
3. Collaborating with engineers and project teams to deliver integrated, high-quality design solutions
4. Supporting design reviews and resolving technical queries throughout the project lifecycle
5. You will be maintaining accurate documentation and ensuring all work meets safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
This is a full-time role at 37 hours per week based at Rosyth, Fife. Hybrid working patterns are available.
Essential experience of the Piping Designer:
6. Demonstrating experience in piping design within an engineering or industrial environment
7. Using 2D and 3D CAD tools such as AutoCAD or similar design software
8. Interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical standards
9. Working effectively within multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex projects
10. Applying a strong understanding of design processes, safety, and quality requirements.
Qualifications for the Piping Designer:
11. HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
12. A degree in Engineering (or working towards) would be advantageous.

The successful candidate must be a sole UK National who is able to achieve and maintain BPSS security clearance for this role.
